Libby is 27 years old, an artist with bipolar disorder. As a teen she suffered from depression, often unable to get out of bed. Most times her talent, her sweetness and sense of humor made her the center of attention.

In her later teen years her mood swings became extreme. Manic highs, feeling like a goddess to depressions so intense she felt pain throughout her body. Self-medicating, and socially acting out she was filled with guilt and confusion resulting in a number of suicide attempts. Her family and friends were at a loss and she was hospitalized a number of times. After a few good months the pattern would start again.

Libby began to lose any sense of hope, feeling like she did not belong in this world. It was then a monster named Poppy appeared. Not a typical scary monster, but a good monster; one who fully understood Libby’s condition and would even help guide her towards a happier, more stable life. Poppy helped Libby make decisions like seeking therapists who specialized in CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) to learn coping skills. Daisy also helped Libby understand that taking the right course of meds would allow her to be the best possible for her and find a balance.

Before meeting her monster Poppy, Libby only saw the world in black and white. Now, the world looks brighter, and more colorful but what is even more special, is that Libby is feeling better and even has a new friend!
