Molly is a 25-year-old single mother of a 4-year-old daughter, Amelia. Soon after finding out she was pregnant, her boyfriend left her. He just wasn’t ready to be a father and this was really her “problem”. Although scared to be alone she decided to go through with the pregnancy.

Molly dropped out of college and worked multiple jobs to support her child. She refused help from her family. She no longer felt she could trust anyone but herself.

Overwhelmed with sadness she began to lose the ability to look after herself. She knew she had to stay strong for Amelia, but inside she felt miserable and all alone. At night after Amelia went to sleep, Molly would often lock herself in her room and cry until she could no longer breathe. She felt like failure in life and as a mother.

One night when Molly was having one of her crying spells, she heard the doorbell ring. When she answered she was greeted by a monster named Olivia. Even though Molly didn’t know Olivia, she felt an immediate sense of comfort in this fluff of fur.

Olivia began to help molly by structuring her day. Starting by packing healthy lunches for Amelia to bring to daycare and even organizing chores to help her clean up her apartment. This meant so much to Molly, having made a friend who understood and supported her, leaving her less overwhelmed.

Olivia’s influence made Molly strong enough to be able to ask for and accept the help from her family, who never stopped loving her. With her new sense of self and ability to accept outside support she started going to therapy. Molly was diagnosed with depression and has been actively participating in treatment.

Molly is feeling much better and recently finished her degree in early child education. Every day she is thankful for the love and support of her family, which now of course includes Olivia.
